Species of spongy cap mushrooms of the genus Leccinum (lat. Leccinum) of the boletus family. Birch in nature grows from early summer to late autumn in deciduous, mainly birch, and mixed forests singly and in groups. It often grows along the edges of forest roads. The cap is up to 15 cm in diameter, hemispherical, later cushion-shaped, dry, slightly mucous in wet weather, different colors, from light gray to dark brown, almost black.
